New York Public Library and Kirtas Technologies Partner to Make 500,000 Public-Domain Books Available to the World: "http://www.prweb.com/pingpr.php/WmV0YS1GYWx1LUNvdXAtU3F1YS1GYWx1LUNvdXAtWmVybw=="
What a wonderful idea to make the NY Public Library collection available for purchase through the scan process. A couple years ago I penned my first book on Samuel Tilden from a teleplay I wrote. Knowing it would be next to impossible to get the project produced I decided to tell the story in a book so others could learn about his stolen Presidency. Once published, I decided to revise, edited and personally retyped the original "The Life of Samuel Tilden" written by the Honorable John Bigelow. That project took me two long years to prepare for publishing. During that process I carefully recharted Mr. Tilden's extensive and pricey collection of books which were bequeathed along with the money in his estate to start the library off. As many of you know (and for those of you that do not) John Bigelow was one of the Executors of Mr. Tilden's estate - and his best friend. Bigelow kept his promise to Tilden to see the New York Public Library to completion. It was a difficult task for several reasons - but he indeed keep his promise. I was thrilled today to read this press release knowing myself how much work and time goes into a single re-publish of a book that now with digital technology the partnering of Kirtas with the library will expand the vision of both Bigelow and Tilden regarding free access to literary knowledge...Tilden was well known in his time as a lover of books, science and math. as of this writing I am producing his documentary and will add this information to the project. Kirtas Technologies/Books and Paul LeClerc,President of the New York Public Library should be honored by the city of New York for their genius idea to preserve the works of thousands of authors worldwide. They certainly deserve it for a job well done....Nikki Oldaker Author/Producer
